Work-life affected by broken relationship

28. January 2008
Ending relatioship with partner might abduct peace of soul. Sirje Grossmann - Loot, the executive director of ECF, organizes seminars for divorcees which offers knowledge about how to deal with break-up as painless as possible.

“Besides the death, divorce is one of the most tragical occasions in persons' life,” finds Sirje, who has done seminars for divorcees about three years. In the programme of seminars she relies on wisenesses of a Finish man, Kari Kiianmaa, who, in turn, has taken Bruce Fishers' methods as the ground theory.

“Every marriage is special and every divorce seminar is different. The participants talk about their thoughts, emotions, about what is or was on this relationship,” introduces Sirje the seminars. And addes that the divorcees should never be alone with their problems. This, also, is one of the main reasons why the executive director of children's fund started organizing those seminars – to offer people the support and opportunity to improve their lives.

Seminar lasts for ten weeks, meetings are once a week. Last seminar had six participants.

In practise it has happened that the person who came through the seminar has decided to abandon the process of divorce because she/he has learned to know more about the relationship, also about keeping and developing this relationship.
